Wondering what to do with your placenta?
Here's everything you need
to know.
Postpartum recovery support in Barcelona — trilingual, transparent, and built around your safety from start to finish.
Postpartum asks a lot of you — your body, your mind, your emotions, your whole self, all at once, often with little rest.
Placenta encapsulation is one option some mothers choose to support that recovery and support themselves during the early postpartum period — here’s what’s known, what’s traditional, and what mothers says abot it, so you can decide for yourself.
Mothers who use placenta capsules most commonly report benefits like improved mood, more energy, better milk supply, and reduced postpartum bleeding.
It’s worth saying clearly: research on placentophagy is still limited, but that’s not the same as evidence against it. Large-scale clinical research is expensive, and it tends to follow funding — and a natural substance that can’t be patented rarely attracts the kind of investment that drives big studies. Limited research here reflects limited research funding, not a finding that it doesn’t work.
What does exist, beyond the formal research, are countless shared experiences from mothers who have done this and felt the good of it firsthand — passed along from mother to mother, much like many things in postpartum care.
Many cultures have long treated the placenta as more than waste tissue — sometimes as a connection between mother and child, sometimes as something to be honored, buried, or returned to the earth rather than discarded. This is a cultural and spiritual perspective, not a medical claim, and it’s offered here as context, not as a reason to choose encapsulation over any other option.
